I really love doing band shoots. It’s a good opportunity to get something a bit different and also to work with different locations and lighting, which all inspires me in my wedding and portrait photography.
This is Mojohooker! They are an amazing 6 piece blues-funk band from Birmingham and the beautiful Camilla, who is one of my oldest and closest friends, is the lead singer and plays blues flute and the harp. Her other half Tony ‘T-bone’ Haran is the guitarist, Jimmy Holliday is on drums, Paul Kulas is on hammons/Keys, Pete Hyde is on guitar and Stevey ‘P’ Pinell is on bass.
They played a gig at The Hardwick Arms in Streetly and we met up beforehand to take some set up band shots. We didn’t have a load of time or a huge array of locations, and with the pub filling up fast we had to work quickly. I’m really happy with the shots we got though and I hope they reflect the cool, bluesy-funky vibe of the band. I got a lot more of Cam than I did of anyone else as I had more time with her (and she rocks the camera!); we’re going to go out another time and get some more funky shots of the other guys soon though! Watch this space…
I then took some of their gig which was brilliant. I’d have taken loads more but I was too busy drinking and dancing!!
Check out their myspace www.myspace.com/mojohooker and you can find them on facebook at their page ‘Mojohooker Blues-Funk’.
Hope you like the piccies!!
